人生


인생은, 현자들이 말하는 것처럼
어두운 꿈은 아니랍니다.
때로는 아침에 조금 내린 비가
화창한 날을 예고하거든요.

어떤 때는 어두운 구름이 끼지만
금방 사라져 버리지요.
소나기가 온 뒤 장미가 핀다면
소나기 퍼붓는 것을 왜 슬퍼하나요?

재빠르게, 즐겁게
인생의 밝은 시간은 훌쩍 지나가 버리지요
고마운 마음으로,
유쾌하게 날아가는 시간을 즐기세요.

가끔 죽음이 들러서
가장 소중한 이를 데려간다 한들 어떠리오?
슬픔이 승리하여 희망을 마구 뒤흔든다 한들 어떠리오?

희망은 쓰러져도 꺾이지 않고
다시 탄력 있게 일어서거든요.
희망의 금빛 날개는 여전히 활기차고
여전히 힘차게 우리를 잘 지탱시켜주지요.

씩씩하게, 두려움 없이 시련의 날을 견디세요.
영광스럽게, 늠름하게
용기는 절망을 이겨낼 수 있으니까요.

life, believe, is not a dream
so dark as sages say;
oft a little morning rain
foretells a pleasant day.
sometimes there are clouds of gloom,
